Case Study
ActionStreamer Empowers Video Streaming and Prioritized Media Uplink Over AWS Private 5G

The Problem:

AWS (Amazon Web Services) technicians had experienced the difficulties of sending high-quality, low-latency video over RF. This is inherently challenging due to issues with radio frequency (RF) coverage and RF link quality, legitimate network traffic from other network nodes, the amount of data needed to render HD video, as well as intermittent interference from external RF sources.

AWS selected ActionStreamer to prove that their Private 5G offering and cloud infrastructure could help to solve these issues. This tech was highlighted at AWS re:Invent 2022.

The Solution

In preparation for AWS re:Invent 2022, ActionStreamer’s team and patented platform (read more here) delivered multiple 5G streaming camera solutions, in addition to pre-existing camera solutions. These include:

• Newly designed security cameras
• Football HelmetCam
• DroneCams
• HatCams

All of these solutions were streamed over AWS Private 5G, and enabled control and monitoring capabilities from anywhere in the world via Amazon’s AWS cloud services.

ActionStreamer’s proprietary software was configured to only transfer video based on the customer requirements, reducing the amount of bandwidth and storage required.

The software can be configured for customer-centric needs and requirements, only sending video when certain activity or requirements are met. Examples in an industrial use case include triggering the camera based on movement, or time of day.
